Shopping in Arhus, Denmark

Many of these buildings are hundreds of years old. This picture was taken from the plaza of a large department store. What struck me was how clean the city is and also all the stores. There are people nearly elbow to elbow, yet it all seems orderly somehow.

Peg and I are enjoying some great coffee and Danish pastries at a sidewalk cafe on the river walk. The cafes are all along the long river walk and are always busy. It's a great way to shop and also relax with friends in between stores.

Here, my favorite daughter Leah and I mug for the camera.

Leah and Peg enjoying the day and the company! Notice the tables and chairs behind them. Believe it or not, delivery vehicles drive between them.

How pretty is this? A scrap of paper floats in the water, they'll probable send someone to retrieve it. Lol! Note the sidewalk cafe that line the river walk. There are apartments above them as well as stores.
Peg watches some ducks as Leah snaps a photo. Walking on this side goes a little faster, avoiding the crowds on the other side.
Bicycles outnumber cars by far in Denmark. Most living areas are close to schools and shops. With the narrow streets and tight parking, it's often faster on a bike. Unless you have two little kids and a baby buggy to haul around! Notice the lack of litter. There were thousands of people here today, but very little litter. Remarkable!

Funny what one notices for the first time...You're so right about the cleanliness. That was what our friends from China ALL commented on. "So clean!" they said.
So glad you guys came! So much fun. I'm still reminicing over pictures.
